Manuel Caliumi

He graduated with honors from the Conservatorio “A. Boito” in Parma and later earned his Master’s Degree with honors and academic mention from the Conservatorio “F. Venezze” in Rovigo. He participated in various jazz workshops such as Siena Jazz, Umbria Jazz, Nuoro Jazz, Arcevia Jazz, and Veneto Jazz.

Additionally, he received a scholarship for a masterclass with Dave Douglas at Columbia College in Chicago and took lessons with David Binney, Melissa Aldana, and Loren Stillman in New York.

He has been awarded the “Premio Luca Flores” and “Premio Marco Tamburini” and was a finalist for the “Premio Massimo Urbani”. Furthermore, he won the “Concorso Chicco Bettinardi”, the “Barga Jazz Contest”, the “Concorso Stefano Cerri”, and a national audition as lead alto saxophone for the “ONJ – Orchestra Nazionale Jazz”. He is a member of several projects and plays with various orchestras including the Jazz Art Orchestra, Orchestra Nazionale Jazz, ParmaFrontiere Orchestra, Civica Jazz Band, Reunion Big Band, and Tai No-Orchestra.

He has performed at numerous international festivals, cultural institutes and clubs including: Umbria Jazz, Praga Jazz Festival (CZ), Jaipur MusicStage (India), Italian Institutes of Culture (Tel Aviv, Paris, Bruxelles, Cologne, Oslo, Strasbourg,Madrid), Canadian Cultural Centre (FR), Jazz Showcase Chicago (USA), Jazzycolors Festival (FR),Getxo Jazz Festival (ES), Gent Jazz Festival (BE), Jazz à La Citè (FR), Balkan Jazz Showcase (AL),Edinburgh Jazz Festival (GB), Koprivnica Jazz Fest (HR), Opus Jazz Club (HU), Festival Jazz Cádiz (ES), Nigrán Jazz (ES), Nublu (NYC, USA), The Piante Bride (Philadelphia, USA)and many others across Europe and the United States.
