John Edwards

John Edwards is a true virtuoso whose staggering range of techniques and boundless musical imagination have redefined the possibility of the double bass and dramatically expanded its role, whether playing solo or with others. Perpetually in demand for more than 30 years, he plays regularly with Evan Parker, Joe McPhee, Roscoe Mitchell, Peter Brötzmann, Mulatu Astatke, Louis Moholo, Shabaka Hutchings to name but a few.

He also works with film composers and contemporary dance companies.

Improvisation, instant composition is his main focus.
