Cristiano Calcagnile
Drummer, percussionist, composer.
Born in Milan on June 3rd 1970.
His professional activity is based on the activity as ” sideman” and as musician, composer and arranger, in his projects or shared ones.
Over the years he developed his own expressive path that led him to confront himself with the most varied musical genres. He is leader of the octet in his name that in 2016 released the record “MULTIKULTI Cherry On”, with which he has performed several concerts in the most prestigious Italian festivals.
“MULTIKULTI Cherry On” is among the best records of 2016 for the referendum of “Musica Jazz” and the AAJ platform, and among the best bands of 2016/17 for the referendum of “Musica Jazz”.
In 2018 he published his first solo work “STOMA” with the newborn label WE INSIST! Records.
The project also developed into the production of a film shot with Bruno Pulici and Luca Orioli.
He is also leading several line-ups such as: M.R.C.A feat. M.Falascone, N.Locatelli, L.Venitucci; ANOKHI feat. Giorgio Pacorig, Gabriele Evangelista; SEA SONGS feat. Cristina Donà, Vincenzo Vasi, Pasquale Mirra, Lorenzo Corti, Gabriele Mitelli, Danilo Gallo; CALIPSO feat. Audrey Chen, Alberto Braida, Edoardo Marraffa, Luc Ex; RUBINI quartet feat. Tobyas Delius, Akhim Kaufmann, Antonio Broghini.
He has played all over Europe and in the most important festivals in the world: England, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Australia, Japan, Brazil, China, Morocco, United States, and for the Italian Cultural Institute in Helsinki, Jakarta, Bangkok, Tunis, Mumbai and Lisbon.
