“…The keystones of this work, which took me almost two years to complete (November 2015 – June 2017), are the pieces that bear the names of the four ancient Greek winds: Borea (North), Noto (South), Euro (East), Zephiro (West).
This imagery can’t obviously ignore the perspective of the “migrating wind” as an entity in movement, that blends and transforms itself, renovating traditions, identities and cultures, overcoming walls and barriers of all kinds…”
Andrea Grossi
“…Andrea makes his debut as a composer in a decisive manner; “Four Winds”, the subject of his dissertation at the Conservatoire of Parma, is a courageous project, a suite for ensemble that reveals maturity, love for the less explored paths and a fresh idea of music, far from the academic attitude and from being a mere revival of the past…”
Roberto Bonati
“…Luckily, the musical landscape is illuminated by young artists as Andrea Grossi, a well-endowed double bass player not only with solid technical and expressive qualities, but even and above all with intellectual independence and the ability to balance the planning of composition with the “hic et nunc” of the improvised gesture, the work of a group with the individual sensitivities, the awareness of an ancient and legendary heritage with contemporary styles, blues, rock… and even jazz…”
