in love with the moon

After Oued (Zrec records 2004) and Talus (Nuscope recordings 2009) “In love with the moon” is Alberto Braida’s third solo album. All along the four tracks composing the work, Braida’s wise exploitation of piano’s rhythmic and percussive capabilities takes us on a journey through the luxuriant, surprising, unexpected paths of harmony.
Martin Scorsese defines cinema as “an art form introducing the unexpected…the pleasure of a revelation…” and reiterates that in it should be found “the mystery, the genuine discovery of a danger, even if only emotional”. This is what “In love with the moon” is about, the acceptance of the risk, the encounter with that mystery.

“Our choices, what we decide to do or not to do, shapes reality, the world.
Our taste, so often used as mask to justify our superficial choices, can improve through exercise, patience and practice.
There is no effort that doesn’t bring some kind of pleasure.
Learning to appreciate music like this one, a music demanding repeated and dedicated listenings, improves us.
It improves us as musicians, expanding and sharpening our perception, and improves us as human beings, teaching us patience, listening abilities, reception possibilities.
Improving one’s personal “taste” and learning how to appreciate such a “difficult” music is a social, human and political gesture.
What we chose to support with our attention and care is what will shape the world, it is the world itself.
